Going Back To My Roots
Here is the Richie Haven's version of the Lamont Dozier classic "Going Back To My Roots". This track gets plenty of ipod love. I've also included FPI Project's "Rich In Paradise" which is a house cover of the classic. For those of you who aren't familiar with late 80's Italian house, think of FPI Project like the Crookers of their day. Check the video. They even look like Crookers. They will certainly bass you!
One for the headphones, one for the dance floor... Richie Havens "Going Back to My Roots" '80
Romanthony is a triple threat: DJ, producer, and singer. Club croon-dog (the voice on Daft Punk's "One More Time" and "Too Long") and soulful spinster. His genre spanning production encompasses House, R&B, Garage, Breakbeat and Hip-Hop. Most recently his hit "Curious" was remixed by Treasure Fingers and Laidback Luke did his take on the Romanthony classic "Let Me Show You Love".
He'll be bringing his revivalist acid garage sound to Love for a special dj set. The inimitable Pink Skull and I will be joining him. Here are some of Romanthony's tracks, including some classics and his forthcoming release "Away From U". It'll be dropping on Digitalent just in time for WMC!
I just learned that Linden C recorded the untitled 1992 US house track widely know as "Deep Beats Vol One Track One". Now I can stop calling it that siren song.
Maggie Horn has to be one of the coolest people in NYC. Club maven, DJ and party staple, she also sings a little.
Actually, she sings a lot.
As one of the most sought after voices in stateside dance music, she has recorded with Mad Decent's Sammy Bananas, Dub Step producer Sharmaji (check out "Break Your Heart" on Soul Motive for some 2-step dubby bliss), and the esteemed Curses! (aka Drop The Lime). Her track with Curses!, "The Deep End", dropped on the Parisian Institubes label with remixes from Bart B More & Holy Ghost!!
If you were lucky enough to catch her with Curses! at Studio B on Saturday, you know exactly why I'm carrying on like this. If you didn't, don't worry. There are still plenty of opportunities!
I give you the Siren Mix Tape. Perfectly mixed by BMore all star DJ Scotty B, Siren takes you on a journey of all things Maggie. Siren is full of bouncy break beats and plenty of groove to get you moving. Download it. Hit the gym. and get on that New Years resolution!
